Care & CleaningScrubbable — Type II Rated

This wallcovering meets Type II durability standards per ASTM F793. For routine cleaning, use a natural sponge with a mild soap and water solution. A natural sponge's construction does the best job of removing dirt from textured surfaces. For stubborn deposits, a soft bristle brush may be used. Rinse thoroughly with clean, clear water, changing the water often to ensure it remains clean. Dry with an absorbent cloth and examine the area to confirm complete cleaning. Stains should be removed as quickly as possible to prevent any reaction between the staining agent and the wallcovering. Time is especially important for removing materials containing colors or solvents such as ballpoint ink, markers, nail polish, paint, lacquer, and some foods. If stronger cleaning is required, use a liquid household cleaner with low VOC content that is non-abrasive. Metallic finishes should only be cleaned with a mild soap solution, as stronger cleaners may cause discoloration.

Important

Do not use excessive pressure or hard bristle brushes, as this can burnish or abrade the wallcovering surface. Do not use steel wool or powdered abrasive cleaners. Repeated use of stronger cleaners in the same area can extract plasticizer from vinyl wallcoverings, causing loss of suppleness and changes in surface appearance under different lighting conditions. Never mix cleaning agents together, volatile reactions can occur. When cleaning, always take measures to prevent water from dripping behind molding.

Always test any cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area of the wallcovering first to ensure the surface is not damaged.

What does Type II wallcovering mean?

Type II is a commercial wallcovering classification defined by federal specification CCC-W-408D. It requires a minimum weight of 13 ounces per linear yard and must pass specific tests for abrasion resistance, tear strength, stain resistance, and colorfastness. All of our commercial wallcoverings meet or exceed Type II requirements, making them suitable for high-traffic environments including hotels, offices, healthcare facilities, and retail spaces.

What fire rating certifications does this wallcovering have?

Our commercial wallcoverings carry Class A fire rating under ASTM E84 (Surface Burning Characteristics), which is comparable to UL 723 and NFPA 255. This is the highest fire safety classification for interior wall finishes. Do you offer PVC-free commercial wallcovering?

Yes. Every pattern in our commercial collection is available in both Type II vinyl and a PVC-free alternative. Our PVC-free wallcoverings meet the same Type II performance standards for durability and fire safety while eliminating PVC from the product. They are FSC Certified, UL ECOLOGO Certified, and GREENGUARD GOLD Certified for low VOC emissions — ideal for LEED, WELL, and other green building projects.

What are the lead times for commercial wallcovering orders?

Our commercial wallcoverings are printed to order. Standard production time is approximately 2–3 weeks from order confirmation, with shipping time additional based on your location. Rush production may be available for time-sensitive projects — contact us at sales@poppyprintstudio.com with your deadline and we will confirm availability. We recommend ordering samples and finalizing selections early in your project timeline.

How is commercial wallcovering installed?

Our commercial wallcoverings use an overlap-and-double-cut installation method, which is standard for Type II products. The material is sold by the linear yard in widths of 50 inches plus 1 inch overlap (51 inches total), produced in continuous bolts up to 45 yards. Professional installation by a certified wallcovering installer is required. We include installation guidelines with every order and can connect you with recommended installers in your area.

Where can I find spec sheets and technical documentation?

Downloadable spec sheets are available on every product page — look for the memo download link in the product details section. Each spec sheet includes material composition, fire rating test results, durability ratings, cleaning instructions, and installation specifications. Shipping & Returns

Shipping

Commercial wallcoverings and samples ship from our shop and studio in Lawrence, Kansas. Yardage and panel orders are produced to order and ship within 10 business days. Samples ship within 1–2 business days. Standard ground and expedited shipping options are available at checkout. All orders ship via UPS or FedEx with tracking provided. Signature is required on all packages over $1,000. We do not ship to USPS PO boxes.

Returns

Commercial wallcoverings are produced to order and are non-returnable. Samples are non-refundable. For project cancellations, contact sales@poppyprintstudio.com as soon as possible, as orders not yet in production may be eligible for cancellation. Once production begins, the order is final. Excess material should be placed into attic stock for future repairs with the same dye-lot batch.

Claims

If your commercial wallcovering arrives damaged or with a manufacturing defect, contact sales@poppyprintstudio.com within 7 days of delivery with photos of the issue and your order number. We will replace defective goods or issue a credit at our discretion. Inspect all materials upon delivery, claims for visible defects must be filed before installation. Installed material with pre-existing visible defects is not eligible for replacement. We recommend retaining all shipping packaging until installation is complete and inspected.
